We are looking for a commercial Project Coordinator to support the offering process on tenders of vessels from small boats to midsize and larger vessels and ferries in Africa.

The position

The Project Coordinator refers to JGH Marine’s Chief Commercial Officer and will provide ad hoc project support to the Commercial Project Manager and the COO of JGH Marine.

The position is seen as a development role, where the Project Coordinator over time develops the necessary competencies to take responsibilities of own projects, thus becoming a Commercial Project Manager.

The responsibilities and work assignments/tasks are the following:

  • Participate in the preparation of offers on tenders as well as direct offers to possible customers
  • Support the bidding with sourcing and identification of most competitive suppliers for project
  • Take part in contract negotiations with both customers and suppliers/partners
  • Assist with opening letters of credit, bank guarantees, insurance bonds and similar
  • Participate in review of specifications
  • Support contract preparations
  • Prepare and assist in the handover of projects to JGH Marine Technical Organisation for delivery
  • Follow up on payments

The travelling activity is mostly to Africa and is expected to be up to 50-60 days annually.

The ideal candidate

You have recently finished a relevant commercial education, and in addition you might have experience from procurement, sourcing, bid management and/or logistics. If you have knowledge about shipbuilding or the marine industry; it is an extra plus.

You are eager to learn all aspect of becoming a strong commercial businessman, who sees the opportunities in a project, and with commercial creativity creates the winning bid.

We expect full working proficiency in English verbal and written, and maybe French at similar level.

You are well-organized and with strong attention to detail as required to run a profitable and successful bid business. You therefore also master MS Office / Excel at an advanced level.

Furthermore, you are robust, a team player, accountable and able to work independently combined with high self-motivation.

It is expected that you are prepared for extensive travel activity to Africa, and the job also includes the possibility of posting to Kenya.
