On behalf of Sonion, a leading supplier of cutting-edge audio components for the hearing aid industry, we are looking for a strong technical sales professional to take responsibility for managing and developing the business relationship with one of their top accounts in the Danish hearing aid industry.

Recently Sonion also added biometrics to its product portfolio. Biometrics is expected to be one of the key additional technologies in hearing instruments in the future. Sonion was founded more than 40 years ago by Jørgen Weber Jensen and Jens-Jørn Stockholm in a small apartment in Roskilde, Denmark. After an exponential growth, several changes in ownership and three name changes, today Sonion is a growing force of more than 6,000 committed employees working from sites in Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, USA, China, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The company is owned by the Danish holding Novo Group, Inc.

The position

The Key Account Manager refers to Sonion’s SVP Global Sales Hearing Health and will be responsible for the key account management of one of Sonion’s top accounts in Denmark.

You will work closely with the customer’s product development, product management, sourcing and supply chain organizations at all levels including executive management, to influence and inspire the use of Sonion’s advanced technologies to be developed into new hearing aid solutions – well supported by a dedicated technical sales support team and R&D organization.

Your daily activities will be servicing and handling existing contacts and developing long term relations at all levels and customer sites. When mutual developments are being considered, you will oversee the project together with a dedicated Application Engineer and coordinate interactions with Sonion’s engineering teams with a strict focus on bringing value to the customer, and to Sonion. As KAM at Sonion you are the owner of the business case for each customer project.

Driving the account’s growth is a mix of winning new projects/design-ins and navigating the commercial possibilities with currently designed in products. Overall, most time is expected to be spent in securing design-ins and growing the baseline, especially with new product innovations in the acoustic and biometric domain.

Over time, as you learn and develop in your role, you are expected to develop into a Key Opinion Leader role in the Hearing Aid industry.

Apart from regular travel to Sonion’s office close to Schiphol in the Netherlands, the travelling activity is mainly to Asia and is expected to be between 50-60 days annually.

The ideal candidate

Your education could be MSc in Electronics, Applied Physics or similar alternatively you could hold a MSc in Finance and have a long commercial experience with a strong technical edge. Your technical sales experience comes preferably from the industry of Electronics or Acoustics, maybe even from the transducers or hearing aids industry.

You have an in-depth understanding of product development, industrialization and R&D in manufacturing companies, and you understand the importance of value based selling focusing on benefits for customers and customers customer (i.e. technology to end user benefit) in your sales efforts. You also have an in-depth understanding quality assurance and operations.

It is important, that you are a strong relationship builder, and that you have good collaborative and communication skills (verbal and in writing) to reach out to people of different cultures across geographical distances. You should as a minimum be fluent in both English and Danish.

You are patient and persistent as you will be working with long sales cycles, and you have very strong informal leadership capabilities. You are a trusted partner both internally and externally.

Moreover, you are results and objective oriented with focus on creating business and maintaining a constructive dialogue with key stakeholders.

And then, you have lots of energy, a positive personality, and a winner mentality.
